The concentrated energy of the laser breaks the pigment into small particles that are easily absorbed by the patient’s immune system. This energy is specifically absorbed by the pigment, which significantly reduces the risk of skin damage.
The procedure does not require anesthesia, but a local anesthetic ointment can be used.
The number of procedures varies on individual basis, depending on the number, depth and quality of pigments.
