Marlen Sulamanidze

Was born in 1947, in Tbilisi. Graduated Irkutsk Medical Institute, in 1972. From 1974-1984 he was engaged in jaw-face surgery, but later, plastic and aesthetic surgery became his main direction. Initially he practiced in Georgian clinics, and from 1993 – in Moscow. During this period, he conducted more than 20 thousand surgical operations and more than 5 thousand from them was plastic of nose deformation and more than 7 thousand was done by APTOS methods.

He is the member of IPRAS, Russian and Georgian Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association. Member of ASPS American and Georgian Plastic and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association. From 2001, he is the honored member of French Society of Aesthetic Surgery, from 2005 – the member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and from 2007 the honored president of Japan Society of Liposuction Surgery.

Along with Giorgi and Konstantine Sulmanidzes he is the author of the APTOS threads method idea. He published more than 70 scientific works, and 20 from them were published in 20 leading international publications.

He proposed a method of contour compression in rhinoplasty.

Proposed a method of subcutaneous dissection of soft tissues, and in 1996, patented an appropriate tool, like "Wire Scalpel" for the first time in the world!

Performed the operation of transconjunctival blepharoplasty with the help of the CO-2 laser of the new generation of Ultra-Pulse-5000C, Coherent, USA. (CO-2 lasers Ultra-Pulse 5000C, Coherent, USA), for the first time in Russia!

He applied computer modeling in aesthetic surgery under the Alter Image program, for the first time in Russia!

He patented the method of continuous suturing of surgical wounds with barbed threads, for the first time in the practice of plastic surgery.

He proposed a minimally invasive lifting of the soft tissue ptosis of the face with barbed threads.

He proposed a method of "horizontal mammaplasty".

Patented the appropriate product and Aptos method, for the first time in the practice of aesthetic surgery.

He patented mammary endoprostheses (implants) with projections at an angle.

In сo-authorship with S. Savchenko, he proposed an original technique for performing autolipofilling.

He proposed the original design of a bra for a large female breast and for fixing the mammary glands.

He patented Aptos Spring, and proposed a method of elastic lifting " marionette lines".

He patented Aptos Needle, and suggested minimally invasive lifting methods: ptosis of soft tissues of the face and neck; ptosis of the female breast; sagging internal surfaces of the shoulders.

He proposed a method of correcting the "trapezoidal" nose.

He proposed a method for reducing the width of the base of the wings of the nose with an L-shaped incision.

He patented a twin needle and a new design of barbs on the threads, and also proposed appropriate methods for suturing surgical wounds and ptosed tissues.
