The bullhorn surgery is used for the correction of the upper lip, during which a distance from the nasal tip to the upper lip is decreased. The procedure belongs to the group of lip correction surgeries, under the general name of cheiloplasty.

During the surgery, a small part of skin is excised and soft tissues are fixed to the periosteum. After the procedure, the surface if skin above the upper lip is decreased. (The vermilion border itself is lifted and slightly turned out.

The procedure is recommended in the case of following indications:

• Too thin upper lip
• Age-related changes
• Elongated skin part of the upper lip
• Trauma on the face
• Asymmetry
• Ptosis (flabby skin)
• Insufficient volume of the upper lip
